DARNE SxS MODEL R16 Elegant French Shotgun in 12 G

Offered for sale here is a Darne 12 gauge double barrel shotgun. This is Model R16. The Darne shotgun is not like any other This gun is a work of art which truly belongs in a museum. Unlike most other double guns, the Darne does not break forward to load. Rather it is a straight pull horizontal sliding breech with fixed barrels which work effortlessly. The Darne shotgun has changed very little in the 115 years since Regis Darne created this magnificent beauty in St. Etienne France, where they are still being made in the same factory. Darne guns are elegant and graceful, very light and excellently balanced. The hand fitting of the metal furniture where it meets the wood is incredible and really enforces the respect that the world has for French design and handwork.

This gun has their “Plume” rib. Darne barrels are sleeved, that is, mounted into the breech sections via the “monobloc” system a long-tested technique that offers the advantage of greater strength because the sleeve can be heat treated to better properties than conventional systems without exposing the entire assembly to excessive heat.31 1/2 INCH BARRELS
