Notice to licensed hunters

Laws relating to hunting near National Parks

With 180 State forests now declared for conservation hunting in NSW, there are some circumstances where licensed hunters may have to drive through adjoining national parks to reach these areas.

Please note the following advice:

It is illegal under the National Parks and Wildlife Regulation 2002 for anyone to be in possession of a firearm in a national park without consent being granted.

Written consent must be obtained from a designated authority within the Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC). The designated authorities are usually DECC Regional Managers. The written consent will include specific dates and anticipated routes to be used.

Camping in a national park while in the possession of a firearm is prohibited.
